American Airlines has been designated as the official airline of the SBT 16th Annual Meeting. Attendees will receive a 5% discount off any published excursion fare on American Airlines to Washington D.C. from the 50 states and Canada. An extra 5% discount is available for fares purchased at least 60 days in advance of the travel date.
These rates are only valid for travel to and from the Washington D.C. area between November 5 and November 14, 2001. There are also special zone fares available for attendees not planning to stay a Saturday night.

Located 26 miles west of Washington and offering a full range of domestic and international flights. Taxi fare to downtown is approximately $40. Washington Flyer provides bus service to hotels with departures every 45 minutes, Super Shuttle offers door to door service to some properties.
- Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI)
Located 30 miles east of Washington and offering a full range of domestic and international flights. more than 50 trains travel between Washington’s Union Station and the BWI rail station Monday – Friday. Taxi fare is approximately $45. For ground transportation call Super Shuttle at 800/809-7080.
- Ronald Reagan National Airport
Located south of the city along the Potomac River and offering a full range of domestic flights to major, regional and commuter carriers. Shuttle bus service to downtown DC available. Also accessible on Metrorail’s yellow and blue lines. Taxi fare to downtown is approximately $15-$20 and both Washington Flyer and Super Shuttle now offer service from the airport to some area hotels.

Six abstracts submitted by students, post doctoral fellows-in-training, or Junior Faculty (Instructor or Assistant Professor) with three or less years on staff, will be selected for presentation during the Presidential Session from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm on Saturday, November 10, 2001. Of those abstracts presented, one will be selected as “best of the best” and will receive the 2001 Presidential Award and a check for $1,000 at the Saturday evening Presidential Reception. Judging of these abstract presentations and selection of the Presidential Award Winner will be conducted by a committee composed of members of the Board.
